We Hit 825,000 Views, Y’all… You Did That!!!

“Maybe one day somebody who really values what I do hits me like, ‘Hey CeCe, what’s your Cash App?’ and blesses me out the blue like, ‘Here you go CeCe, now go build this thing full time.’ And since we joking, but also not blocking blessings — it’s $claycece. LOL.”

825,000 views. Wow.

Like… for real, wow.

I just got an email saying I hit 825,000 views on YouTube and I had to sit there for a second like… hold on… what?

Because to me, that’s crazy.

Wow!!!

A year and four months ago, this was just me, a camera, and me talking basketball how I talk basketball. That’s it. No team. No big backing. No nothing. So yeah… 825,000 views? I’m not acting like that’s normal. That’s a blessing.

Now let’s keep it real and put that number in perspective. There are over 100 million YouTube channels out there. And when you really look at YouTube overall, that 825,000 views hits different.

  • Median video: about 50% of all videos sit under roughly 30–50 views

  • Majority of videos: around 65%+ are under 100 views

  • Only a small group: a few percent hit 10,000+ views per video

  • Even smaller group: actually go viral

So yeah… this little USC Women’s Basketball channel sitting at 825,000 views? Yeah… we are reaching people.

And if somebody says, “well you could just post a lot to get there…” okay, cool. If I was only getting 100 views a video, I’d have to post 8,250 videos to hit that number. 8,250… in a year and four months? I’d have to be posting in my sleep 😂 So no… this ain’t just about posting a lot. People are watching. People are coming back. People are tapped in. And I appreciate that. For real.

Now let me say this too… do I debate people over here? Oh yeah. All the time. Do I argue even when I might be wrong? Yeah… sometimes 😂 Because my opinions are my opinions. That’s what this channel is. We talk basketball. We don’t always agree. People disagree with me, I disagree with them, and sometimes it’s just like… alright, we said what we said. But one thing about me — I stand on what I say about USC Women’s Basketball, and I’m proud of that.

Now when people come in the comments mad? Man… I don’t take that personal. I’m too old for that shit. At the end of the day, this is the internet. They don’t know me, I don’t know them. Sometimes they are madder at me then their bosses, wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, whoever😂. Sometimes I just laugh, let them have their moment, and keep it moving. Or I might just block them. LOL. It is what it is.

At the end of the day, I love what I do. I love this channel. I love building this for y’all. I love breaking the game down, talking analytics, talking hoops, and giving USC Women’s Basketball a space where we can really talk about the team. The website is part of that too, the photos, the blogs, the player features, the breakdowns. All of it matters to me. I’ve always wanted this to be more than just posting videos. I want it to be something that documents this program in a real way.

Shout out to the USC Athletics YouTube channel, they got over 77,000 subscribers. That’s the main USC engine. They cover everything: football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball, track, all of it. And we already know football runs the show. That’s not even a debate. So when I’m talking about 825,000 views, I’m just saying, in THIS lane, USC Women’s Basketball? This is doing something. That’s it. I respect what they do. I feel like what I’m doing just adds to it… brings more eyes, more talk, more energy to the women’s side. And for what this is, and for the lane it serves, this channel is doing something special. And we’re going to keep doing special things.

Now let’s not get it twisted either. I’m not competing with nobody. People may be trying to compete with me but…🥷 Now, are we starting to see people do similar stuff? Yeah, somewhat. And honestly, more coverage is cool. If people want to talk USC Women’s Basketball or women’s sports in general, I’m not mad at that. But I also see what’s going on. Some people are trying to build pages, which is fine, but then everything starts sounding the same.

Now let me jump into this AI stuff real quick, because some of y’all be making me laugh. Using AI for research? Cool. Using it to organize your thoughts? Cool. Using it to help you clean something up? Cool. But come on now. Some of these comments I see on X, some of these captions, some of these responses… that ain’t you. That is not you talking.

Using AI to write your whole comment is like showing up to the cookout with store-bought potato salad and trying to act like you made it from scratch. We know. Everybody knows. LOL.

You can’t let AI run your whole life. You can’t let AI turn you into a whole different person online. That’s crazy to me. Because if people have heard you talk before, they know. They’re reading it like, “Now who wrote this?” 😂 Use the tool, but don’t let the tool become you.

I’ve been writing since I was in high school. I’ve got notebooks full of poetry I haven’t published, journals full of stuff I just write. My son always tells me I need to write a book, publish my poetry, and tell my life story because I’ve got so much backstory people would be like, what? And don’t get it twisted, my son is taking right after me. He writes his own music, got A’s in English in high school, and has already written scripts, all while serving in the military. So yeah, we’re a family of writers over here. Maybe one day I’ll finally put all of it out. But I’m saying all that to say, I’m true to this. I’ve always been this.

And what I’ve learned about writing, even when I take it into YouTube videos, is that writing has to be you. It has to be how you feel. Your words. Your personality. Your authenticity. That’s writing. It’s putting your thoughts to paper in a way that sounds like you, not like somebody else.

Alright… we got a little off topic, but that part mattered. Because that’s what’s driving the 825,000 views. I’m just being me.

Like me or not, I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older that being me is what makes me… me. People are going to like me, people aren’t. That’s life. But I’m not about to change who I am to satisfy somebody who thinks I should sound different or think different.

This YouTube channel is what I want it to be. And we’re going to continue to expand it. Period. Point blank.

And again, this is a passion for me. It keeps my mind busy. It keeps me going. Life be life-ing, I have a full-time job, bills still due, and this is still a hobby for me. I love doing this.

Maybe one day somebody who really values what I do hits me like, “Hey CeCe, what’s your Cash App?” and blesses me out the blue like, “Here you go CeCe, now go build this thing full time.” 😂

And since we joking — but also not blocking blessings — it’s $claycece. LOL.

Shoot, maybe it’ll take like 20 of y’all, I don’t know. 😂

But in the meantime, I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing. I’m going to keep building. And I’m going to keep hoping this thing continues to grow.

So if you watched one video, left one comment, shared something, clicked on a photo, read a blog, subscribed, or just been rocking with me from the beginning… thank you.

For real.

That’s not just me.

That’s us.

And I appreciate it.
