USC Women’s Basketball Media Lab: The Next Phase of the Buildout
I wanted to give you guys an update on where we are with the USC Women’s Basketball Media Lab YouTube Channel and the next phase of the buildout. I’ve shared pieces of this on X over the past few days, but I know a lot of you don’t follow me there, so I wanted to put it all together here.
The idea behind the Media Lab has always been to build a digital sports media platform focused on a very specific niche: USC women’s basketball. That vision hasn’t changed. We’re just moving into the next phase, and a big part of that is building out the programming.
Yes, we create content. I’m a content creator. That’s what media does. But I also believe the type of content you create and how you present it helps separate one platform from another. On the YouTube side, I want people to get away from thinking, “Oh, CeCe posted another video.” We’re building shows with their own names, formats, regular hosts and purpose. Think of it the way you think about a sports network. You know the shows, you know the people on them, and you know what you’re tuning in for. The videos are the content. The shows are the programming.
Inside the Matchup with Conrad & CeCe is our pregame scouting report. Conrad and I are taking our pregame coverage much further this season and turning it into a real scouting-report show. We’ll break down the opponent, key players, important matchups, tendencies, analytics, offensive and defensive strategies, and the areas we believe could decide the game. The goal is simple: when the ball goes up, I want you to already know what to watch for.
The Postgame Report with Matt, Conrad & CeCe is where we break everything down after the game. Some shows will be live and others recorded. Matt brings the journalism perspective, Conrad brings the analytics, and I bring my perspective on USC women’s basketball. We may all watch the same game and come away seeing something different, and I think that will make for some really good conversations.
Big Ten Weekly Recap with Shimmy & CeCe gives us a weekly look around Big Ten women’s basketball. We’ll talk about the games, players, teams and performances that stood out that week and the things worth discussing.
Speak On It with Kameo Williams, CeCe & Conrad is our fan show. Think sports-radio call-in show. We’ll have our opinions, but the fans are part of the program too. You can call in, ask questions, disagree with us, make your case and talk basketball with us. For the fans. By the fans.
Voices of the Game is where my player and coach interviews live. Those conversations have always mattered to me because I want people to know more than what somebody does on the basketball court. I want to know their story, what shaped them and who they are beyond the box score.
CeCe’s Courtside Commentary is where my reactions, analysis, opinions, breaking news and deeper basketball conversations live. It also gives me room to sit down with special guests outside the player and coach interview space and talk about different subjects around the game.
Courtside Access is our home for press conferences and media availability, whether that’s USC or other teams, players and coaches from games and events we cover. No extra production. Just access.
What really makes this next phase special to me is the people who have agreed to be part of the programming. And it’s not just about their résumés or what they know. Each one brings a completely different personality and energy to the shows. We’re not all the same, and I think that’s a strength. The programming is going to feel different depending on who is sitting at the table.
Kameo Williams is nationally known throughout the basketball and recruiting world. He has around 45,000 followers on Instagram and more than 25,000 on X, but what he has built goes well beyond social media. Through Gems in the Gym, he has built a powerhouse AAU tournament platform and a major presence in grassroots basketball. He is a player evaluator, basketball consultant and recruiting advisor who works with players, families and coaches. That’s what he brings to Speak On It.
Conrad Pascual has more than 10,000 followers on X and has built a respected name in women’s basketball, especially when it comes to analytics. He does media work involving the Golden State Valkyries and contributes to The Podium Finish. Conrad sees things in the numbers that many people miss, but what I really appreciate is his ability to explain what those numbers actually mean on the basketball court. That’s why he fits so well on Inside the Matchup and The Postgame Report.
Matt Zemek brings the journalism side. He covers USC through Trojans Wire, part of the USA TODAY College Sports Network, and has years of experience covering college sports. He knows how to look beyond one game and put what happened into a bigger context.
And then there’s Shimmy Miller, a nationally known basketball analyst and former coach with extensive television and broadcasting experience. She works as a Big Ten analyst, appears on set for the Big Ten Network, calls Big Ten games on air and also calls WNBA games for the Chicago Sky. She has coached the game, she analyzes it, and she calls it on television. Now she’s sitting down with me to talk Big Ten women’s basketball. That still blows my mind a little bit.
I’ve always been taught that if you want to be successful, surround yourself with people who are better than you in the areas where you want to grow. That’s what I’ve tried to do. I’m the connector. I don’t need to know everything, and I don’t want to pretend that I do. If Conrad understands analytics better than I do, I want him around me. If Kameo knows evaluation and grassroots basketball better than I do, I want to learn from him. If Matt brings years of journalism experience, I want that perspective. If Shimmy has coached the game and worked at that level in television, I want to hear what she sees. I don’t need to be the smartest person in the room. I want smart people in the room. That makes the work better.
So that’s where we are with the USC Women’s Basketball Media Lab. We’re still creating content, but now we’re building more structure around it with actual shows, different voices, different personalities and different areas of expertise, all under one sports media platform dedicated to USC women’s basketball. When I look at the people who have agreed to be part of it and think about where this is headed, I don’t take any of it lightly. God is good.
We’re still building, and I’m excited about what comes next.
Different programming for different parts of the game, all in one place. Just coverage, analysis, access and conversations that matter.
Fight On. 💛❤️
