One TikTok, One Team: How Brooklyn Shamblin Captured USC’s Chemistry on the Last Day of Summer Workouts

This week, USC Women’s Basketball gave us something special — an almost full team TikTok on the last day of summer workouts, led by Brooklyn Shamblin.

Last season, we didn’t get many of these all-in moments. Rian gave us a classic — the mustache-and-beard TikTok, where the whole squad’s faces were filtered like they could join the Movember club. It was hilarious and showed off their humor, but it wasn’t about music, movement, or team rhythm.

This one was different — and the timing made it even more meaningful.

Why the Timing Matters

Summer workouts in NCAA women’s basketball aren’t just casual shootarounds. Over an 8-week window, teams are allowed up to 8 hours per week of required activity — split between weight training, conditioning, and skill instruction. Typically, that means:

  • Strength & Conditioning: 3–5 sessions a week to build power, agility, and injury resilience.

  • On-Court Skill Work: Small-group and team drills, up to 4 hours a week, installing offensive and defensive concepts.

  • Individual Workouts: Focused shooting, ball-handling, and positional skills.

  • Conditioning & Recovery: Sprint work, footwork, and planned rest days to avoid overtraining.

It’s intense. It’s structured. And it’s designed to make sure when official practices start around September 22, 2025 — 42 days before opening night — the team already has chemistry and conditioning in place.

So for USC to finish their summer grind and still have the energy, connection, and willingness to create a TikTok together says a lot.

The TikTok Itself

The video was set to a song, with two players at a time stepping forward to dance. Each pair brought their own personality to it, but there was still structure — the opening steps, Front, Back, Right, Left, were perfectly in sync before breaking into their own moves. The flow was natural, the rhythm smooth, and the smiles genuine.

It wasn’t even a completely full roster. Freshman Jazzy Davidson was at practice earlier that day but didn’t appear in the video, and international transfer Gerda Raulušaitytė isn’t on campus yet but should be here by August 15. Even without them, the energy was undeniable.

Early-Season Chemistry

This early in the season, you expect some awkwardness. New faces, new roles, and new systems take time to mesh. But this video felt like it came from a group that’s been together for years. That’s not normal.

It says the summer workouts worked.
It says the personalities fit.
It says they’re already starting the season on the same page.

Brooklyn didn’t just organize a TikTok — she captured a moment that perfectly reflected the team’s spirit. If they can bring that same rhythm, connection, and joy to the hardwood, the Big Ten’s going to have its hands full. Leave a comment below on what you think of this team’s chemistry so young in the season!!!
